11+ Non-verbal Reasoning
Non-verbal reasoning uses shapes, patterns and spatial relationships, so it does not depend on English vocabulary. It tests observation and logic. Schools rarely teach these question types, so familiarity matters.

Where marks are lost
Children often notice one change, such as shape, and miss another that changes at the same time, such as shading, number or direction. Spatial questions on rotation, reflection and nets are another common difficulty. Because schools rarely teach these types, unpractised children lose marks under time pressure.
How tutors usually help
Tutors usually start with a short diagnostic, then plan practice around the format of the target schools. Lessons combine teaching new question types with timed practice, and errors are logged by type so parents can see progress. Closer to the test, tutors add full mock papers and pacing practice.
Test content and format differ between schools and can change each year. Check with your target schools and local authority.
