Where marks are usually lost

Balancing equations, moles and concentration calculations, and explanations of bonding that mix up ionic and covalent ideas. Students also lose easy marks by leaving out units or state symbols when asked for them.

How a tutor usually helps

A tutor can turn calculations into a repeatable routine, then mix topics so students recognise which method a question needs. Examiner-experienced tutors can show how marks are split across a long calculation.

Details differ by board and change over time. Always check the current specification on the exam board’s website.

How to use past papers properly

Past papers help most when they are used to find gaps. Doing paper after paper without reviewing them rarely changes a grade.

Tell us what your child needs. We will do the searching.

A member of our team reads every request and replies with a shortlist of approved tutors, or an honest update if we need more time.
